Ademola Lookman, a winger for Serie A club Atalanta and the Nigeria national team, was born on October 20, 1997, in Wandsworth, Greater London, United Kingdom. Currently 26 years old, he hails from the Yoruba ethnic group.
Lookman attended St. Thomas the Apostle College in Peckham, achieving impressive academic success with three A*s and five As at GCSE level.
Beginning his football journey at Charlton Athletic’s academy in 2014, Lookman transitioned from Waterloo, a youth club in Lambeth, to Charlton Athletic. He made his senior debut as a forward for Charlton Athletic in 2015, competing in the Championship. Lookman then moved to Everton in January 2017, primarily playing as a winger. He represented England at various youth levels before making his debut for Nigeria in 2022.
Lookman’s international career saw him receive his first call-up to the England U19 squad, followed by inclusion in the European U19 Championships squad. Despite initial interest from Nigeria’s national coach, Gernot Rohr, Lookman declined the opportunity to switch allegiance to Nigeria in early 2017. However, he later requested to represent Nigeria, a request approved by FIFA on February 10, 2022.
On March 25, 2022, Lookman made his debut for Nigeria in a scoreless draw against Ghana during the third round of African qualification for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. He made significant contributions to the Nigeria Super Eagles’ success, notably scoring two goals on January 27, 2024, securing their spot in the AFCON 2023 quarter-finals.
