Top UTME Scorer in Ogbomoso Awarded ₦2.4m Tech Scholarship

Olalude David Ayodeji, a student at Deeper Life High School, has received a ₦2.4 million scholarship from SQI College of ICT. Ayodeji earned the highest score of 341 in the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for the Ogbomoso area of Oyo State. His reward is a year-long professional training in Robotics Engineering at the college’s AI and Robotics Research Centre.

The scholarship was given during a surprise visit to Ayodeji’s school. SQI College representatives, led by Rector Dr. Adegbenro Sunday Ajani, came to Deeper Life High School to congratulate Ayodeji, his parents, and the school. The event was filled with joy as everyone celebrated Ayodeji’s success.

Dr. Ajani spoke about the college’s aim to develop talent and prepare students for the global tech industry. “We at SQI College of ICT are dedicated to finding and supporting bright students who can become tech leaders,” he said. “This scholarship shows our recognition of Ayodeji’s efforts and our commitment to helping young Nigerians succeed.”

SQI College of ICT, founded in 2008, has trained over 15,000 students in various tech fields. Many of its graduates now work for top tech companies in Nigeria and abroad. In 2021, the college got accreditation from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). This allows it to offer Innovation Enterprise Institution (IEI) programs, which lead to National Innovation Diplomas (NID) in areas like Computer Software and Hardware Engineering.

The scholarship is part of SQI College’s effort to give back to society and encourage academic excellence among Nigerian youth. Every year, the college gives this scholarship to the highest-scoring JAMB candidate in the Ogbomoso area. Dr. Ajani mentioned that they plan to expand this program to include top performers in other national exams, showing their commitment to making quality education more accessible.
