The Lord’s Chosen: 5 Interesting Facts about Trending Church Whose Founder Resigned from Watchman

Social media is agog with debates on the now trending “I am a Chosen” phrase, a slogan that is associated with the practices and testimonies emanating from the Lord’s Chosen Church. The Lord’s Chosen hit the limelight days after a viral video misinterpreted one of its female members’ testimonies where she claimed to have disarmed four attackers in her dream. Despite this being explained by the church’s media team, which even released a full video of the incident, the trend continued to grow, complete with more and more bizarre testimonies and memes from creators. Here are five interesting facts about the church:

1. Founder of The Lord’s Chosen

The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Movement was founded by Pastor Lazarus Muoka, who claims the church was born out of a divine call. The pastor disclosed this calling to some brethren on December 23, 2002, which marked the beginning of the church’s life.

2. First Location

The first meeting of the Lord’s Chosen was held at 16 Odunaike Street, Ilasamaja, Lagos. The church moved to Ijesha to worship by August 2003, according to the pastor himself in an interview he granted The Sun.
3. Pastor Muoka’s Background

Before founding the Lord’s Chosen, Pastor Muoka was a member of the Watchman Catholic Charismatic Renewal Movement, WCCRM. The cleric from Imo State later resigned to face the building of the Lord’s Chosen squarely.

The Lord’s Chosen has grown astronomically, expanding into over 100 nations in Africa, Asia, Europe, North and South America. According to Pastor Muoka, all the growth of the church is a divine intervention, as he still travels around the world for evangelism.
5. Church’s Vision

It has a threefold vision for operation, namely: the revival of the grassroots revival worldwide; revival of apostolic Christian experience in the body of Christ, and a heavenly consciousness among believers. It is at the behest of God’s direction to ensure it wins 10 billion souls into the kingdom.
But all the controversies and resultant trends did not deter the Lord’s Chosen from its mission and eventual global spread.
