Student in 200 Level at Ekiti State University Takes JAMB Again Because She Didn’t Like Her Course

A Nigerian student’s drive to study her dream subject of medicine pushed her to make a gutsy choice: to begin her university journey from scratch. This tale starts at Ekiti State University (EKSU) where the young woman first signed up for a course she didn’t want—forestry. She aimed to study medicine, but because medical school admissions are tough to get into, she took the course she was given hoping to change later.

The choice to study forestry had an influence on a well-meaning children’s teacher at her church. This teacher told her she could switch to medicine once she started school. This advice though, turned out to be wrong. The woman thought that if she did really well in her studies, she could move to the course she wanted. With this idea, she began at EKSU set on studying hard and getting top marks to make the switch happen.

In her initial term, her efforts bore fruit landing her a spot among the top three students in her program. This success boosted her confidence driving her to work even harder. She signed up for many evening classes and aimed for top marks all with the goal of earning a high GPA that would let her transfer to medical school.

But her hopes crashed in her second year when she went to her head of department (HOD) with a letter asking to transfer. Even though she had great grades, her HOD wouldn’t sign the transfer letter saying, “How can I let one of my best students leave the department?” This rejection crushed her, as she realized her dream to study medicine at EKSU wasn’t going to happen.

Confronted with the tough truth that her first two years were a waste of time and money, she chose to quit EKSU and begin anew. She didn’t want to give up on her goal so she went back home and signed up for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) once more. This attempt got her into Onabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) in Ago Iwoye where she started from scratch.

Her hard work and commitment bore fruit, as she’s now about to finish her degree in the field she wanted. Her journey shows how far someone can go to make their dreams come true and proves that if you keep trying, you can succeed.

#CapCut After my sec school, i stayed a year before going into the university. I chose Medicine and surgery buh i was given Forestry management. Where do i start from? My secondary school friends were already in uni😩 Our children teacher in church then told me to accept it that I’d cross into my preferred department when i get into the school(which was a very big lie😕). I accepted the course, made friends with students from college of medicine hoping I’d join them soon. My first semester result came out and i was amongst the top 3. I was so happy and studied hard for my second semester. Numerous night classes just to be on a first class(cos i was also told that if my CGPA is very strong, i will be able to cross without issues). Some of my results were out and it came out WELL, some courses kept delaying due to portal issues but that didnt stop me from writing to my department HOD and to the HOD of the department i wanted to go to. Only for my HOD to say “How do you expect me to let one of my best students to leave the department” meaning he can’t sign the letter of transfer i brought. The money spent for 100l and 200l goneeee cos Eksu is damn expensive😭 I was so devastated that i made up my mind to leave the school and write jamb again. Though i wasn’t given medicine, i still love my course. Look who’s through with being an undergraduate😉🤭 6yrs as a undergraduate of 2diff schools, it has always been and will always be God🥹❤️ @NO 1 VENDOR IN OGUNSTATE #signoutday🎉🎉🎊🎊👩🏼‍🎓👩🏼‍🎓🔥 #relatable #classof2024 #viral #graduating #trending #lastdaysofschool #ooustudents #students #tiktokstudents #trendingsounds #graduacion
