Nigerian Afrobeat sensation, Seun Kuti, advocates for the Super Eagles in the aftermath of their draw against Equatorial Guinea. The national football team recently secured a 1-1 draw in their inaugural match of the 2023 African Cup of Nations held in Ivory Coast.
Seun Kuti, a prominent saxophonist, felt compelled to share an anecdote about his past encounters with Nigerian players. Reflecting on a specific incident during a previous AFCON hosted in Ghana, he vividly described observing Super Eagles players indulging in bowls of fufu and pounded yam just moments before hitting the field. Exclaiming about the unconventional pre-match meal, Seun emphasized his concern about the dietary choices of the players.
In his commentary, Seun argued that many players participate in the AFCON due to the influence of their superiors in the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF). The musician also took a moment to commend globally renowned African players who have been performing exceptionally for their respective teams.
