Nigerian singer Paul Okoye, popularly known as Rudeboy from the now-defunct PSquare group, has recently revealed his special way of handling social media trolls. As fans will attest to, many celebrities are victims of constant trolling on social media. While some have resorted to emotional stress and breakdowns, others have built up over the years thick skin enough to put up with such negative vibes, and it would appear that Rudeboy falls in this latter category.
Recently, Rudeboy took to his Instagram stories to share with his followers his petty way of dealing with the many trolls that comment on his page. Instead of reacting with anger or ignoring them completely, he does the opposite. According to the singer, each time someone drops a nasty comment in his comment section, he responds politely and asks about what is going on concerning him and, in fact, is ready to listen to one’s problems. He then takes it to the next level, offering to send them money, asking for their account details.
Rudeboy says instead of actually going through with the offer, he uses the opportunity to teach the troll a lesson: gotten their account details, he says he blocks the troll’s page and leaves them with a curse rather than hard cold cash.
While some fans found the method quite humorous, several social media users berated Rudeboy for what he did, terming him immature and petty. The backlash came fast: several netizens questioned him, wondering how someone of his years and stature could act like that. Comments like “At your age?” were many, with critics feeling that Rudeboy didn’t have to respond in that manner.
Despite the criticism, Rudeboy actually seems impervious to it all, as he has kept being playful in handling negativity online-turning the tables on trolls in a way that amuses some and peeves others.
