Oyo Governor Approves Promotion of 1,800 Overjoyed Workers 

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde with intent commits to approving the promotion of 1629 civil servants, nursing officers inclusive who was disadvantaged by an administrative hiccup during the promotion of civil servants in the years 2017 to 2020. Such information was made known to the state by the information commissioner prince Dotun Oyelade in the event that it was fed after a state executive council meeting on Wednesday September 25.

As relayed by Oyelade, this promotion of these workers is in response to the head of state ‘s effort reacting to historical injustices ill treatment that previously affected these affected employees. There have been wide celebrations as many workers who had earlier missed out on promotional opportunities owing to systematic flaws will do so now.

The Oyo state government also issued several other important promotions in the civil service apart from the approved positions. Commuters totalled to a whooping 124 workers who were earlier fired in the year 2012 were awarded state forgiveness and re established into gobbling up civil service whereby redressing ex employees that were injustice to some or who were victims of unfair administrative policies. In addition to that, 47 civil servants who had been sacked irregularly from the service have also been reinstated to service.

Nonetheless, Oyelade noted that the council upheld the sack of 823 employees from the erstwhile government for presenting fake certificates. Some of these workers had undergone verification to check their employment credentials and were found with fake documents, hence, sacked. Council further sanction employment termination of 180 workers who were recruited in the tail end of the previous administration in 2019 with obvious procedural irregularities.

In another occurrence, the State Executive Council offered a package of rewards to the writers of the state anthem “Asiwaju Ni Wa.” The council reserves the sum of N25 million to be paid as the amount due to the authors of the referred covenants as acknowledgement of their efforts to the state.

Governor Makinde’s administration still makes proves its worth in addressing the grievances of civil servants in Oyo State that have a carried for so many years and the recent spell of promotions and reinstatements has been a sigh of relief and hope to the affected workers. The certain step has been favorable to many as they view it as the governor’s commitment to ensuring that the public service is improved and the wrongs of the previous governments rectified.
