The decision affects the classes of 2021, 2022 and 2023. The NYSC, in a statement on its Facebook page yesterday (August 6), said the certificates of these Nigerians have been cancelled forthwith following an investigation which has also taken other fraudulent practices perpetrated by them into consideration and discharged through printed individual letters.

In view of this, the NYSC has cautioned corps employers, corporate and religious organizations, multinational companies, government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), and corps-producing institutions. They should endeavor to authenticate any certificate presented to them in line with this warning. To avoid employing or accepting false corps members, we urge the general public to confirm certificates’ authenticity at the NYSC national directorate headquarters Abuja.

However, in a bid to promote justice and confirm the eligibility of such documents as exemption letters among others; through the issuance of this alert, NYSC is calling on all stakeholders for necessary actions towards verifying certificates presented for any purpose. The current move by NYSC is one of many steps that it has been taking towards ensuring that there are no fraudulent acts involved in its national service programme.

Thus, acting decisively in defense of its integrity over the nation’s service program standards is what could be considered an ultimate satisfaction from NYSC. Fighting frauds is still a top priority for the organization; thus it is committed to ensuring that all processes related to national service are done transparently and fairly.
