The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has officially announced the schedule for the 2024 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Orientation Course, set to take place across the 36 states of Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory. The orientation course will begin on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, with activities unfolding at all designated orientation camps nationwide.
According to Ahmed Ikaka, the Director of Public Relations and Strategy (PRS) for NYSC, registration for the orientation will commence on August 28 and continue through August 30, 2024. In a circular titled “2024 Batch ‘B’ Orientation Course,” released on Wednesday, August 7, 2023, Ikaka outlined that the registration period will conclude at midnight on August 30, 2024. This deadline marks the end of the registration process, leading into the swearing-in ceremony.
The swearing-in ceremony, an essential event marking the official start of the service year for the new corps members, is scheduled for Friday, August 30, 2024. Following this ceremony, the orientation course will continue for three weeks, designed to prepare the corps members for their year of service. This period will include various activities intended to equip them with the skills and knowledge needed for their roles. The closing ceremony for this orientation will take place on Tuesday, September 17, 2024.
In related news, it has been reported by Legit.ng that the NYSC has announced the suspension of all activities for existing corps members in August 2024. This includes postponing the monthly clearance and weekly community development services (CDS) due to planned nationwide hunger protests. The NYSC has indicated that the date for resuming these activities will be communicated in due course.
This orientation course is a critical component of the NYSC program, providing new corps members with essential training and introduction to their upcoming service. The preparation activities during the orientation are designed to help them adapt to their roles and responsibilities effectively, ensuring they are well-prepared for their service year.
As the NYSC prepares for this new batch, prospective corps members are encouraged to complete their registration promptly and stay informed about any updates or changes to the schedule. The orientation course represents a significant milestone in their journey, and their participation will be pivotal in shaping their experiences throughout their service year.
For more information on the orientation schedule and other updates, corps members are advised to regularly check official NYSC communications and stay connected with their respective orientation camps.
