A Nigerian bride, Adaeze Nwa Nsukka, recently celebrated her wedding in the most uniquely intimate ceremony. Sharing her joy with all of us on Facebook, Adaeze posted photos from her very modest wedding and indicated that keeping it this way was the couple’s choice.
Adaeze and her groom wore native-inspired attire and adopted a personal, traditional touch in dressing for their big day. At their invitation, only 10 family members and very close friends attended—a number Adaeze said was deliberate, not necessarily constrained by their lean purse.
Sharing on Facebook, Adaeze wrote: “For those asking, yesssss, this is our wedding outfit. We had just 10 close friends and family present. We’re broke, so no money for a big wedding or maybe. But it was our choice. Igbotic couple with steeze and composure. These days, people are using isi Agu to tailor their wedding dresses and getting married in church, while some rent wedding gowns. My dress was made by me. Makeup by Benny’s Lifestyle.”
Adaeze’s post testifies to this—the couple being satisfied with the decision—boasting of personal style and happiness in spite of this event’s small scale.
