Nigeria Ends Olympic Drought Since 2008 After Victory Over South Africa

The Super Falcons of Nigeria secured their spot in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris after a goalless draw against the Bayana Bayana of South Africa in Pretoria.

This follows Nigeria’s earlier victory over South Africa in the first leg of the encounter in Abuja, where Rashidat Ajibade scored the lone goal for the Super Falcons.

With this slim advantage, Coach Randy Waldrum’s team entered the match in South Africa with the understanding that they needed to maintain their performance to secure their ticket to Paris.

Despite the history between the two teams, with Nigeria having won 15 times against South Africa’s four victories in their 24 encounters, the focus remained on the task at hand.
