Netizens Bestow Burna Boy with New Title ‘Grammy Maestro’ as He Emerges as Most Nominated Nigerian Act

Damini Ogulu, widely known as Burna Boy, represented Nigeria on the global stage once again by performing at the 66th Grammy Awards.

Despite not clinching a Grammy this year despite four nominations, he made history as the first Afrobeats artist to grace the ceremony’s stage live.

Burna Boy, with a total of ten Grammy nominations since his 2020 debut, has consistently received nods each year. Although he missed out on the award in 2020, his album “Twice As Tall” secured his first Grammy win in 2021 for Best Global Music. In 2024, Burna Boy was recognized in four categories:

Best Melodic Rap Performance, Best Global Music Performance, Best African Music Performance, and Best Global Music Album, solidifying his status as the first Nigerian act to amass ten Grammy nominations.
