A 24-year-old Nigerian guy by the name of Oside Oluwole, or Khoded, has accomplished a stunning feat: he has shattered the record for the longest video game marathon while playing a soccer game. GWR confirmed this remarkable achievement in a July 16 piece that appeared on their official website.
Oside, a licensed biochemist who works as a car salesman, spent over three days playing the free-to-play game Dream League Soccer 2023 on his iPhone, amassing an amazing 75 hours of playtime. Throughout the extended gaming session, his phone was wired to a television. This accomplishment beats the previous best of 50 hours, which Englishman David Whitefoot set in 2022.
Oside started this historic endeavor to generate money for a local hospital in his hometown of Ijebu Ode, motivated by Hilda Baci’s cook-a-thon. Oside said, “I really enjoyed myself playing for 75 hours straight with just a few hours of rest,” in reflection on his experience. Even though it wasn’t an easy chore, I had a great time doing it. I’m thankful to God that the event went well; it was such a wonderful occasion and really interesting.”
Photos of Oluwole during his effort to break the record were also made public by GWR. After every hour of gaming, Oside accrued five minutes of rest time, per the requirements for the “longest marathon” records. This made it possible for him to take little pauses without interrupting his attempt to beat the record.
Oside’s perseverance and dedication have not only raised the bar in the gaming industry but also demonstrated his support for a worthy cause. His accomplishment proves his tenacity and has created history in the Guinness World Records domain.
