Following a collision with Georges-Kevin N’Koudou during Nigeria’s match against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon on Saturday, January 27, the Chippa United goalkeeper sustained an injury while saving a cross in his box. Subsequently, he requested to be substituted in the 80th minute after receiving initial treatment on the pitch.

At the end of the game, he was observed with his knee strapped, prompting concerns among Nigerians regarding his availability for the quarter-final game against Angola on Friday, February 2. However, a recent video from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) TV, shared by Adepoju Tobi Samuel, former media officer of the under-13 and under-15 Future Eagles, suggests that Nwabali is likely to be available for selection against the Palancas Negras.
