Good News As Nigerian Governor Sets Aside N200m to Boost Medical Residency Programs

MAIDUGURI Nigeria — Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum has approved N200 million to help 150 medical doctors continue their education through residency programs. This decision shows the governor’s dedication to improving healthcare in the state. He shared this news during a meeting with the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) in Maiduguri on Wednesday. This step aims to make medical education and healthcare delivery better in the state.

This program gives N2 million to 50 state-employed doctors to help them get residency training. It also provides N1 million to over 100 Borno State doctors working in federal institutions. This money aims to boost these medical professionals’ skills and knowledge. It ensures they can handle various health issues and improve healthcare across the state.

Governor Zulum, who takes a hands-on approach to governing, stressed how important it is to invest in educating and training medical staff to make the healthcare system in Borno better overall. He said his government is committed to improving health services given the problems caused by the ongoing rebel fighting in the area, which has affected health facilities and how care is provided.

The NMA, with its President Bala Audu speaking for them, thanked Governor Zulum for his steady support for the medical community and his work to boost healthcare services. The group praised the governor’s vision in seeing the key role that well-trained medical staff play in improving public health.

At the meeting, the NMA gave credit to the governor for his constant work to build better healthcare facilities and improve life for health workers.
