Finidi George Explains Why Nigeria’s Super Eagles Lost to Mali

Finidi George, the interim coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, has provided insights into their 2-0 loss against Mali in an international friendly match. Goals from El Bilal Toure and Kamory Doumbia sealed the victory for Mali, dealing a blow to Finidi’s team in their second encounter.

Finidi attributed the defeat to the absence of key strikers for the Tuesday match in Marrakech, Morocco. He emphasized the limited attacking options due to injuries to Victor Osimhen, Taiwo Awoniyi, and Victor Boniface.

Despite acknowledging the team’s commendable intensity and creation of opportunities, Finidi highlighted their failure to capitalize on chances, leading to their downfall. Reflecting on the match, Finidi expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance but acknowledged the mistakes that cost them victory.

He noted the team’s adaptability despite the setbacks, emphasizing their resilience and determination. Though disappointed with the result, Finidi remained optimistic about the team’s progress and their ability to learn from the experience.
