Comprehensive Rundown: Nigerian States With the Highest Number of Out-of-School Children

Insightful Report: Northern States Lead in Percentage of Out-of-School Children in Nigeria

A recent report by TheCable reveals that northern states dominate the list of areas with the highest percentages of out-of-school children in Nigeria. Kebbi, Sokoto, and Yobe top the list with 67.6%, 66.4%, and 62.9% of children aged 6–15 being out of school, respectively. Conversely, Anambra, Imo, and Ekiti states have the lowest percentages, with 2.9%, 5.1%, and 5.1% of out-of-school children, respectively.

As highlighted by Tribune, the large number of children deprived of education not only impacts the current generation but also poses a threat to the nation’s future prosperity. Without concerted efforts and sustainable solutions, Nigeria risks squandering the potential of millions of youth and hindering socio-economic development.
