Company Takes Employees to Court Over Alleged Theft of Two Loaves of Bread

Two employees of FoodCo, located at Ringroad in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, appeared before the Iyaganku Chief Magistrate’s Court in response to allegations of stealing two loaves of bread belonging to the company.

Ebenezer Olusesi, aged 31, and Ibrahim Adeniyi, aged 41, entered pleas of not guilty to the charge of stealing items valued at N2,600. Prosecution counsel, Cpl. David Adepoju, asserted that the defendants conspired to take the groceries on April 28, contravening the state’s criminal code laws of 2000 under Sections 390(a) and 516.

Chief Magistrate Mrs. Olabisi Ogunkanmi granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N50,000 each, with two sureties required. One surety must provide tax evidence for a minimum of two years, while the other must be a relative. The case was adjourned until August 15 for further proceedings.
