In an interview with Legit.ng, Tumininu shared her journey, emphasizing that her culinary venture began by converting her lunch into a business opportunity. Colleagues and nearby offices became regular customers, prompting her to carry food for sale whenever she went to work.
Tumininu, preferring the title of chef over cook, underscored her professional background, having attended culinary school for three months and acquiring a food safety certificate. With a degree from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and a culinary education, she has now become an employer of labor, managing a team of 15 staff at her cooking company in Lagos.
Leveraging the power of social media, Tumininu showcases her exquisitely packed meals on platforms like TikTok, attracting curiosity and reactions from netizens. While some find her food pricing steep, Tumininu clarified that her offerings are tailored for a premium clientele who appreciate the value of quality meals. She disclosed that a bowl could be priced at N32,000, emphasizing that it’s a fair value for the quality of food she provides.
Undoubtedly, Tumininu has carved a niche for herself in the food business, evolving from cooking for loved ones to establishing a successful culinary enterprise serving high-profile clients.
