Nigerian music sensations, David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, and Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, popularly called Burna Boy, have earned nominations for the 2024 National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People (NAACP) Awards. Leading the pack, the African Giant maestro, Burna Boy, secured five nominations, closely trailed by the Unavailable hitmaker, Davido, with four nods.
The talented musicians are set to compete in three categories: ‘Outstanding Male Artist,’ ‘Outstanding International Song,’ and ‘Outstanding Duo, Group, or Collaboration.’ In the realm of American R&B, Victoria Monét and Usher received the highest nods in the music/recording categories, with six and five nominations, respectively.
The unveiling of the winners is scheduled for a two-hour live TV special airing on Saturday, March 16, at 8 pm ET/PT on BET and CBS. Notably, the NAACP encourages public participation in voting for the winners of its 55th edition, with voting concluding on February 24 at 9 pm.
Burna Boy’s nominations encompass categories such as ‘Outstanding Male Artist,’ ‘Outstanding Album — ‘I Told Them,’’ ‘Outstanding International Song — ‘City Boys,’’ and ‘Outstanding Hip-Hop/Rap Song — ‘Sittin’ On Top of The World,’’ along with ‘Outstanding Duo, Group or Collaboration — ‘Sittin’ On Top of The World.’’
