Art Student Defies Odds to Pursue Medicine

In an inspiring turn of events, a Nigerian woman, Adadioramma, has successfully transitioned from an art-focused secondary education to gaining admission into a medical program at university.

Originally an art student during her secondary school years, Adadioramma made a pivotal decision to switch her academic focus towards the sciences just before applying to university. This bold move was fueled by her growing interest in pursuing a career in medicine, a field that typically requires a strong foundation in science subjects.

Determined to bridge the gap in her knowledge, Adadioramma began taking additional lessons in science subjects to prepare for the crucial exams needed for university admission. Her hard work paid off as she excelled in these studies and subsequently passed the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASCE) and the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), both of which are critical for entry into medical schools in Nigeria.

“This academic journey hasn’t been easy, but God did,” Adadioramma remarked, reflecting on her challenging yet rewarding path to achieving her dreams. She also credits the success to the invaluable guidance and advice from mentors who encouraged her to pursue science and helped prepare her for the exams.
