23-Year-Old Nigerian Woman Achieves Childhood Dream, Becomes Lawyer in the UK

Alice Oladipupo, a 23-year-old woman from Nigeria, has just made her childhood dream come true by becoming a lawyer in the United Kingdom. This big win comes after years of hard work, not giving up, and staying focused on turning what she wanted as a kid into her grown-up job. Alice has a lot to celebrate now that she’s reached this big goal in her life.

Alice’s dream to become a lawyer started way before she went to law school. As a kid, she loved the idea of being a lawyer even though no one in her family or close friends worked in law. She got hooked on the idea after watching TV shows about lawyers, which got her thinking about this career. The big moment happened at a job fair at her elementary school. She dressed up as a lawyer, wig and all. One of her teachers snapped a picture of her in the wig, which her mom later put up in her office. This photo became a symbol of Alice’s goal reminding her every day of what she wanted to be when she grew up.

Even though Alice’s family had no lawyers, she was set on chasing her dream. During her teen years, she studied hard and looked into what she needed to become a lawyer. Her teachers backed her up pushing her to go after her dream and helping her figure out the school path she needed to take.

Alice’s efforts paid off when she got her bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B) from the University of Surrey in England. She then went for a Master of Laws (LL.M) in Bar Vocational Studies at City University of London. This higher degree was key in her journey allowing her to meet the rules to join the Bar of England and Wales.

On her call to the Bar day, Alice celebrated by posting pictures on Instagram, including one of herself as a kid wearing the lawyer’s wig. Her post showed how happy she felt to see her childhood wish come true. “I was called to the Bar of England & Wales. This has been my dream since I was a little girl, and now, it’s real,” she shared.

Alice’s accomplishment stands out even more since she’s the first in her family to become a lawyer. She gives credit for much of her success to her mom’s constant backing, both in terms of emotions and money. When Alice didn’t get a scholarship she applied for, her mom stepped up to pay for her master’s degree making sure money wouldn’t get in the way of her daughter’s goal. “I owe my mum everything. She had faith in me and didn’t want money to hold me back from reaching my dream,” Alice said.

Alice faced many challenges on her journey, including rejections and discouragement. Despite this, she stayed determined finding strength in her faith and support from her family and friends. She believes these obstacles made her more committed to success.

As Alice begins her legal career, she looks forward to the future and the chances it holds. She takes pride in her hard work and hopes her story will motivate others to chase their dreams, no matter how scary they might seem.
